Field Trip: Urban Environment - Five Points, Jacksonville, FL

I really enjoyed Five Points. A friend told me about it and I decided to check it out. Melissa and I walked around in the shops for quite a bit, and took pictures of the things that looked interesting to us. We then drove around the neighborhoods and took pictures of people’s houses (yes, we looked like creeps). We also walked around Memorial Park, and met an interesting man who told us stories about when he was in high school and visited the park. Five Points was a beautiful place, it was so old yet so restored and wonderful. It was a great neighborhood, and the strip of shops was adorable!

Below is a picture that I found on the Five Points Website, that was taken many years ago, and it is of the same spot that Melissa and I are standing in! (Credit : http://www.metrojacksonville.com/photos/index.php?level=picture&id=7456

Below is an older picture of the same building that was hanging up on the glass in the front of the building.

The RAP sign on the house below stands for Riverside Avondale Preservation Inc. If this sign is on a house, that house is limited on the renovations that it can have done.
